The good news: Tuesday (April 29) is Ben & Jerry’s annual Free Cone Day! The bad news: The Ben & Jerry’s at 92nd Street and Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale is the only East Valley location participating in the nationwide promotion. The other Ben & Jerry’s, at el Pedregal in north Scottsdale, will not be participating.

Ben & Jerry’s, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, gave away more than a million scoops last year. While the ice cream is free, please remember to tip the server. It’s a very hectic day for those workers.

Ben & Jerry’s has unveiled several new flavors recently, including Coconut Seven Layer Bar (coconut ice cream with coconut and fudge flakes, walnuts and swirls of graham cracker and butterscotch), Imagine Whirled Peace (caramel and sweet cream ice creams mixed with fudge peace signs and toffee cookies), One Cheesecake Brownie (cheesecake ice cream with cheesecake brownie chunks) and Cake Batter (yellow cake batter ice cream with a chocolate frosting swirl).
