Fusion owners working on 2 new projects for fall

I stopped by one of my favorite Scottsdale restaurants, Fusion, the other day to reacquaint myself with their fabulous Gladiator Burger (pictured above). I learned from JenLyn Long, who owns the restaurant with her husband/chef Matt, the couple has a pair of exciting projects in the works.
And I’m not talking about the almost-completed W Hotel, whose construction mess has been snarling traffic in front of the restaurant for what seems like 10 years.
No, the first piece of news is the Longs are opening a second restaurant, which will be called Daily Dose, not too far away at Scottsdale Road and First Avenue.
While many people have come to consider Fusion a “special occasion” destination, the idea behind Daily Dose, JenLyn says, is affordable comfort food that can be eaten every day.
Unlike Fusion, Daily Dose will offer an all-day menu. That includes breakfast dishes — like gingerbread pancakes and biscuits and gravy, the latter made with a special Niman sausage — served until 2 p.m.
JenLyn says they take possession of the building in May and hope to open in September.
And the other project in the works? That would be the couple’s first child, which is due in August. Looks like it’s going to be an eventful summer for the Longs.
